About this edition
Arthur O’Shaughnessy wrote only a handful of poems in a short life, but one of them gave the language two of its most enduring phrases: movers and shakers, and dreamers of dreams.
His Ode, which opens Music and Moonlight (1874), is a hymn to the artists and dreamers who, unnoticed, remake the world. This edition sets that Ode as its title piece and gathers around it a selection of the lyric poems of his first book, An Epic of Women (1870), songs of love and death, memory and longing, from a poet of the late Romantic twilight and the pre-Raphaelite circle.
