When her father dies, the gentle, orphaned Emily St. Aubert is carried from the sunlit valleys of Gascony to Udolpho, a vast half ruined castle in the Apennines and the stronghold of the sinister Montoni, who covets her fortune and will stop at nothing to seize it. Behind its locked doors and along its midnight galleries, Emily meets terror at every turn.
The complete four volume romance in a single volume, all fifty-seven chapters, freshly typeset with each chapter’s verse epigraph preserved and attributed and Radcliffe’s many inset poems set as centred verse, behind an original mixed media cover illustration by JVB Atelier Designs.
